1.5 Miles To Be Repaved By Mid-November For Immediate Release: October 12, 2006 Nogales, AZ – This week the City of Nogales began a re-paving project on a 1.5 mile stretch of Baffert Drive. The project is part of the City’s Infrastructure Improvement Plan announced by Mayor Kramer in February of this year.

Nogales Transit Feasibility Review and Implementation Plan: The Arizona Department of Transportation and the City of Nogales have joined together to explore the feasibility of initiating public transportation within the City. Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates has been hired to assist with this effort.
El Departamento de Transportación de Arizona y la Ciudad de Nogales se han unido para explorar la factibilidad de iniciar un sistema de transporte público en la Ciudad. La compañía de asesores Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates ha sido contratada para ayudar en este proyecto. Las opiniones de los ciudadanos serán un componente vital para la Revisión de Factibilidad y Plan de Implementación de un sistema de Transporte en Nogales. El segundo taller público se llevará a cabo en el Centro para Personas Mayores/Nogales Senior Citizen Center, 125 Madison St. el día martes 6 de junio, de las 10:00 a.m. a las 11:30 a.m. Esta reunión se enfocará en las necesidades de los residentes adultos mayores de Nogales. Los horarios y lugares para los próximos talleres públicos se darán a conocer a medida que el proyecto vaya avanzando.
The Arizona Department of Transportation and the City of Nogales have joined together to explore the feasibility of initiating public transportation within the City. Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates has been hired to assist with this effort. Public input will be a critical component for the Nogales Transit Feasibility Review and Implementation Plan. The Project Team is hosting a series of public workshops during the course of the project. The project’s second public workshop will be held at the Nogales Senior Citizen Center, 125 Madison Street on Tuesday, June 6th, from 10:00AM to 11:30AM. This meeting will focus on the needs of Nogales’ senior citizens. Times and locations for future public workshops will be announced as the project advances.

Nogales serves as the commercial center and county seat of Santa Cruz County, yet the City has no municipal transit system. Small Area Transportation Rail Study To Be Conducted In Nogales Mayor Albert Kramer announced today that last week the City of Nogales and the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) entered into an intergovernmental agreement to conduct a Small Area Transportation Rail Study in Nogales. The purpose of the study is to identify the need and feasibility of vehicular and pedestrian overpasses; identify the general location of overpasses that are determined to be needed and feasible; identify the responsibility of the City and other jurisdictions in regards to further action; and conduct valid origin/destination analysis of the pedestrian environment and public transportation services.
Bi-national Emergency Response Plan To Be Signed Nogales, Arizona Mayor Albert Kramer, and Nogales, Sonora Mayor Lorenzo De La Fuente will host a signing Ceremony for the Bi-national Emergency Response Plan. The partnership between our two cities has flourished with the great working relationship of public safety agencies as well as the private sector.
