Nogales, AZ – Mayor Albert Kramer, announced today that the City of Nogales is organizing the 2006 Christmas Parade that will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2006.  In order to better enjoy the electrical lights, the parade will take place at night.

Anyone who wishes to participate in the parade, feel free to request an entry application by contacting Ceci Garcia at City Hall (520) 287-6571.  The last day to register will be Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 5:00 p.m.

Participants will lineup at 4:00 p.m. along Morley Avenue starting at the corner of Morley Avenue and Madison Street, and the parade will begin its course at 6:30 p.m; therefore, residents who reside east of Morley Avenue may encounter traffic difficulties during the parade.  The Nogales Police Department suggests that residents of this area plan ahead to prevent traffic problems.

The parade will travel south on Morley Avenue, West on Park Street, and North on Grand Avenue to Banks Bridge.  Then, the participants will go North on Morley to Madison and disband on Madison Street.  There will be parking restrictions after 5:00 p.m. along the parade route; therefore, city officials suggest finding a parking space in advance before the parade begins.

“Parents and school officials are encouraged to pick-up their children at the starting location,” said Mayor Kramer.  He added, “I would like to take this opportunity to invite the people of Ambos Nogales and Santa Cruz County to join us during our parade and Christmas Tree Lighting event.  This is an opportunity to get together with friends and family as we begin our Holiday celebrations.  This is a time in which we all have to unite and spend time with the people we love.”
