The City of Nogales Parks & Recreation Department now provides recreation and sports programs for residents of all ages and manages (8) community parks, (2) which we reserve for small parties, piñatas, etc., (2) separate tennis court locations and (2) outdoor racquetball courts. We have (2) swimming pools, and don’t forget the skate park, (5) ball fields including (1) baseball field, (1) Little League field, (2) softball fields, and (1) soccer/multi-purpose use field, a number of community facilities, including 2 pools, and a community center. The department is organized around four main lines of business:
In 2001, the department began a business planning process. The City Council and City Manager directed staff to focus on core missions and determine what is needed to operate at maximum efficiency while addressing key service issues, to reduce our dependence on the General Fund to the maximum degree practical, and to be innovative in our approaches with alternate funding mechanisms.
