About the Public Information Office

The City of Nogales Public Information Services is the initial point of contact for members of the public and the media. Here, people can find answers to questions such as: "Who is the best person to talk to about my question?" "How can I contact my council person?" "How does the City work?" and "When do the various committees meet?"

Along with handling inquiries, the department prepares a variety of publications that cover issues before the Mayor and Council, provide education about city processes, and offer information for those who want to participate in the process. In tracking daily City activities, the office makes a continual effort to turn complex situations into easy-to-understand text. All publications, including recent press releases are also available on the City Web site.

The division provides official photo-documentary services for Council members, including their official headshots, candid shots, and group photos of constituents who visit City Hall. 

Information and Public Outreach

The Public Information Services Office answers hundreds of telephone inquiries each year. We frequently help citizens find out when and where Council meetings are scheduled, and keep track of important issues. Here is a sampling of the information and public outreach services the office provides:

• Committee Schedule: The office gathers all information, including times, locations, and agendas, for scheduled committees and Council meetings.

• Directories and rosters: Public Information Services office provides contact information for the Mayor and Council as well as federal representatives, constitutional officers, legislative commissions, and state agencies.

• Publications requests: The office mails a limited number of publications to constituents at their written or telephone requests. Due to budget constraints, we respectfully request that, whenever possible, citizens stop by the office or download and print Web-based materials rather than ordering paper copies delivered via the mail. In return, we pledge to continually update and improve our online offerings.

Juan Pablo Guzman, Public Information Officer, has spent his life getting the message out. For over a decade, JP has hosted a live morning radio program; a role he continues today to keep his skills honed. Graduating cum laude with a degree in Political Science, JP lives what he learned. He is as fierce an advocate for the poor, abused and under-privileged as he is determined to get the city news out quickly and accurately.
